- Content distribution in multihop wireless networks
This
project aims at designing novel protocols for content distribution in
multihop wireless networks (with special attention to Mobile ad hoc
Networks).
- Self-organizing grid computing systems
This
research relates to our ad hoc grid project, which aims at building
self organizing peer-to-peer grid computing systems. There are many
topics of research regarding this project. You can get more info
about it at http://adhocgrid.googlepages.com/.
- Mobile ad hoc routing protocols:
performance analysis under a realistic energy model.
In
the context of Mobile ad hoc networks, evaluate some of the most
representative routing protocols considering realistic battery models.
Most protocols (if not all of them!) have been evaluated using the
linear battery model, which is shown to be far from reality. The
evaluation process might help identifying better ways to handle some
problems taking energy efficiency into account.
This
is a good project for those targeting a Master Degree!
- Grid computing on Mobile ad hoc
Networks (MANETs).
Explore
grid computing on mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). MANETs are usually
composed of devices with scarce resources (e.g., nodes are battery
powered), therefore it is paramount to have power efficient
protocols to extend the network lifetime. Now consider the possibility
of building
grid computing systems on top of MANETs, taking into account their
limitations and the lack of any fixed infrastructure. First of all, one
has to investigate what are the real possibilities (i.e., what
kind of scenarios
and applications) of grid computing in such an environment.
Here is an opportunity for a great Master research project!
- On the grid computing capaciyt in MANETs
Study
an analyze the grid computing capacity in mobile ad hoc networks. The
first question to be answered is "Can MANETs really afford grid
computing services?". If that is an yes, what kind of services (i.e.,
what kind of application, what network scenarios...). This is an
interesting work for those pursuing a Master Degree!
